Mercy B. R. (a.k.a. "My Mom!")
She is by far my #1 choice for "Mommy Warrior" in my world! She was an amazing mother, wife, sister, aunt and friend. She was kind to all that she met and it was for real. She battled breast cancer for over 10 years with courage, always with a positive attitude and the faith that she would over come it. She never lost hope, even in her darkest hours. She always had a smile on her face and a positive attitude about EVERYTHING. She saw the good in everyone and always gave people the benefit of the doubt. Her unwavering faith, loyalty and wisdom are traits that I truly admired in her as well as her sincerity & loving attitude towards all. She was amazing. For that, she is MY top "Mommy Warrior.
Margarita R. (a.k.a. my Abuela)
My grandmother is currently 91-years old (young) and one of the spunkiest people I have
ever met. She is a mother of three, a grandmother of 6, and great-grandmother
of 8. She still drives and goes out to
her local community center. Just last year she was named the "Great Queen" of her hometown when she entered a beauty pageant for seniors! She has been
on “death’s door” an infinite number of times. And each and every time she
fights back stronger and stronger than the next time. She has taught me to
never give up and to always try to look good, even when you don’t feel
good. She is an independent woman and has
always been a fighter. She used to mow the
lawn in her own home, and paint her house and put down tile herself when she
couldn’t afford to pay someone, and that was in her 80’s! She is fierce and she is loving. She is a very
spiritual woman and would give her life for anyone of her kids. For this, she
is a "Mommy Warrior."
